Angel Watch: Who’s your Angel?

Perhaps there is something symbolic in the fact that we can’t see angels. Perhaps angels are a symbol of higher qualities that are not easily perceptible to our own natures. Perhaps that is why so many humans—the kind, gentle, caring humans—tend to go unnoticed and unrewarded. After all, they do deserve to be noticed since without them and their almost imperceptible qualities I think it would be safe to say that we would crush each other with our “intelligence,” our impatience and our ambitions.

This article encourages angel watching or in other words, recognizing those who display qualities that require a bit more love and a bit more respect for the human race. Start your own angel watch and make sure you thank your angel for what they do.

Angel Watch: Watch for Mothers
An angel watch must, in my opinion, start with mothers. Good mothers are beyond the scope of practical comprehension. They clean up after people, feed people, shop for people, serve people all day long and they are often happy about it!

Even the word Mom can be a boon to our spirits. For example, I lost my cell phone about a week ago while I was visiting my parent’s home. I had walked to a nearby park, sat under a tree and unbeknownst to me I had left my phone on the grass. A couple days later when a man who was mowing the lawn he noticed the phone, scrolled down the contact list, found “Mom” and called the number. She, knowing of my situation called me via a roommate’s phone and let me know that my lost item had been found. I thought how wonderful it was that because women all over the world have lived lives (good but perhaps quiet lives) that lead us to trust the very word “Mom”!

Angel Watch: Watch for People with Sincerity
An angel watch could include all those who are sincere.

There was a time in my life when I was overweight and like some overweight persons tend to do, I didn’t realize the gravity of the problem. My mother however was sincere enough to calmly tell me that she felt I had a problem and that it would adversely affect me in a variety of ways if I didn’t take care of it. I remember that there was hurt when she told me those things but mostly it was simply the hurt of knowing that change needed to happen and that in that particular area I wasn’t quite “up to par.” At any rate, I appreciated her sincerity. Perhaps if she had not said anything I would still struggle with the problem today.

Continue your angel watch by appreciating those who have patience.
Today, patience isn’t necessarily popular. It is more popular to be impatient with those that are “weak” and follow after those who are “strong.”

I have a dance teacher who has a Master’s degree in modern dance and is of course in very good physical condition. My class is a beginning Jazz dance class and believe me when I say that we are not all adept dancers (myself included). We make tipsy-turvy blunders that could potentially make a toddler laugh. However, I can tell that this particular teacher believes that dance is for everyone regardless of their abilities or physical statures. This belief leads her to be patient with us and because of her patience I have enjoyed the class and benefited from it.

Angel Watch: Watch for People Who Forgive
An angel watch for those who display forgiveness can be one of the most inspiring watches of all. The quality of quick forgiveness is definitely a divine one. I’ve found that many men have this quality and I think it is a very admirable one. Not long after an argument, these resilient people are ready to try again.

Keep an Angel Watch
In life, it’s important to keep an angel watch. These “angel people” are the type of people that we should learn from and hang on to. It is angel people, and not necessarily people with high paying jobs or doctorate degrees, that get through discouragement, despair and heartache most effectively.

Don’t be tricked by the “progress” of the 21st century. There are still angels among us.
